U.S. Companies to Pay International Contractors in Stablecoins

Remote and Stripe partnered to offer U.S. businesses the ability to pay international contractors in the dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC.

U.S. Businesses Can Now Pay International Contractors in USDC

Remote, a global payroll solutions provider, announced the launch of a new feature allowing U.S. companies to pay contractors in 69 countries directly. Payments will be made using USDC issued on the Base L2 blockchain. Stripe, a leading payment service provider, is the technical partner for the project.

This new feature ensures near-instant cross-border payments while maintaining compliance with domestic and international regulations thanks to Remote. According to the press release, stablecoin payments complement the suite of tools designed to automate HR processes.

Job van der Voort, CEO and Co-Founder of Remote, emphasized that this solution removes one of the biggest challenges companies face when hiring international talent — enabling fast, flexible, and secure global payments.

“Freelance platforms often see U.S. or European companies hiring freelancers from around the globe. With the rise of digital nomad lifestyles, these workers need efficient ways to get paid. That’s why crypto payments are becoming a popular solution,” said Max Krupyshev, CEO of CryptoProcessing.com, during the Purpose Driven FinTech podcast.

In October 2024, Stripe, a leader in online payments, became the first client of Paxos’ new corporate solution. This service allows payment providers (PSP) and FinTech companies to process transactions using stablecoins.
